We are building NIXO - an immersive First Person Shooter (FPS) gaming experience In Real Life (IRL).
NIXO is a FPS game played in a family entertainment center, like laser tag. A smart blaster shoots small foam balls. Cameras and AI detect the hits and accurately attribute scores to each player. The floor is porous, the balls fall through, are vacuumed up, transferred to reloading stations, players reload, no picking up balls on the floor. Player masks are fitted with Augmented Reality (AR) glasses. Virtual aspects of the game show in their field of view. FPS, IRL.
NIXO is a FPS game for Family Entertainment Centers (FECs) bringing a much needed upgrade to laser tag.
Cameras around the arena, on the gun and player mask see all shots and impacts during gameplay. AI then accurately gives each player a real-time score.
The NIXO floor is porous. Balls fall through, are vacuumed up, conveyed to reloading stations where players can reload. No picking up balls on the floor.
NIXO uses a small foam ball in its smart blasters, featuring adaptive firing modes and intelligent gameplay integration.
NIXO Augmented Reality (AR) face shields give players virtual overlays showing their score/XP, ammo count, health/shields and other interactive graphics.
Score a direct hit and watch the impact register instantly through your AR display. Computer vision tracks every shot, no questions asked. Cheating? Not a chance.
The NIXO blaster is equipped with FlexFire™, a variable speed motor allowing you to customize the muzzle velocity from 30 to 160 fps (feet per second). Players who want a less aggressive gaming experience can select to slow things down a bit. The NIXO blaster can also be set to fire at full auto, semi-auto, and sniper mode with more modes planned for the future.
AR lenses installed inside the NIXO face shield give you real-time game data like XP, remaining ammo count, etc. You can also see virtual power-ups and other XP opportunities around the arena. Future NIXO AR will include full virtual graphics in the player’s field of view such as virtual players and obstacles.
Every NIXO helmet is equipped with audio, bringing the game to life. Teams can communicate and strategize. Each player has an individualized audio experience while listening to gunfire, music, and other game elements.
NIXO’s proprietary computer vision and AI track every shot with precision. Cheating and disputes are impossible - no referees—NIXO’s smart system automatically validates every battle, ensuring each player has the XP they earned.
NIXO is similarly priced to any family entertainment center (i.e., trampoline parks, laser tag) with options for single games and unlimited play. These are some of our projected prices for future NIXO arenas:
Single game: $8-12
All-day pass: $15-22
Unlimited play: $30-50 per month
NIXO is safe for all ages, but recommended for those old enough to handle the NIXO blaster and play the game which can involve running, jumping, and evading. Generally, the NIXO blaster shoots a foam ball at about 160 feet per second (fps). As a reference, regular Nerf blaster shoots at 50-90 fps and paintball is 200-300 fps.
However, NIXO blasters contain FlexFire technology which allows you to preset the blaster velocity at a lower speed. For example, blasters can be set to:
Regular - 160 fps
Medium - 90 fps
Slow - 30 fps (suitable for all ages)
We expect a launch date Q1-Q2 2026.
Reality+ is NIXO’s proprietary application of Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). Virtual Reality (VR) entails that your entire field of view is occupied by a virtual background. NIXO doesn't use VR, but utilizes AR and MR to apply virtual images to your regular, normal field of view. These virtual images can then interactive with real-world environments.
Paint ball and airsoft can be played indoor and outdoor. They both involve shooting a projectile which can be messy and painful upon impact. They also have no scoring mechanism meaning that all “hits” scored are based on the players’ honesty. Obviously, this leads to a lot of cheating.
Laser tag does keep score and uses a laser, or light, as the firing “projectile”.
NIXO combines the fun, tangible aspects of paintball and Airsoft while also providing the way to keep score. Additionally, NIXO’s AR technology brings the First-Person Shooter gaming world into real life.
NIXO has plans to offer franchising options in the near future but not at launch.
